Welcome to PMQs

Anne PlestedWhile our political leaders wrangle in the House at Prime Minister’s Question Time, we’ll be bringing you our very own version of PMQs – Programme Manager’s Questions!

The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive has applied since November 2007. I’m sure many of you have fond memories of the implementation! Three years have now passed, with numerous papers written analysing the significant changes that MiFID has brought about, not least in a climate of financial crisis. You will most likely already know, or be excited to hear, that there is a review of MiFID underway – aka MiFID II or MiFID 2.

Brace yourselves!

While 2011 is expected to be a year of consultation with EU legislation likely to be enacted from the beginning of 2012, MiFID II will require mandatory software changes for all Fidessa customers during 2012/13. The teams have been in place here at Fidessa for some time, charged with ensuring we have all the appropriate knowledge and understanding of the issues and that we’re aware of what’s coming our way and that we and the products we provide, are ready for it.

Over the coming months Fidessa will be reviewing the mounds of paperwork coming down the track in an effort to provide a more manageable interpretation of some of the key issues surrounding MiFID II. Look out for the first in the series, coming soon, and feel free to pose your own PMQs.
